Cardiac Calcium Scoring Heart Scan
Find out if you have Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
The cardiac calcium scoring heart scan is used to check for early-stage heart disease and determine how severe it is.
Coronary arteries supply blood to your heart and normally do not contain calcium. Calcium in the coronary arteries is a sign of coronary artery disease (CAD).
How does Cardiac Calcium Scoring Work?
It only takes a few minutes and consists of a quick CT scan along with electrocardiogram monitoring. The test allows your doctor to determine whether or not there is a build up of calium in plaques on the walls of your coronary arteries.
What does Cardiac Calcium Scoring Do for Me?
The cardiac calcium scoring examination...
- detects the earliest signs of heart disease
- helps your doctor prevent or treat heart disease early
- reduces the need for other, more expensive and invasive, tests
- can give you the piece of mind of knowing you are healthy or taking action
